- Role : Principal Data Architect
- Location ; , Durham, North Carolina 27713
- Detailed JD: A seasoned technology leader with 20+ years of experience in the Life Sciences, Healthcare, or CRO industry, responsible for driving enterprise-wide Application Modernization, Data Platform Modernization, Cloud Transformation, Data & Analytics, and AI initiatives. This role serves as a strategic partner to the CIO and executive leadership team, leading a global organization of 100+ technology professionals across architecture, engineering, data, QA, DevOps, and program management functions while delivering large-scale business and technology transformation programs.
- Key Responsibilities & Qualifications
- • Define and execute enterprise technology strategy and multi-year modernization roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
- • Lead application modernization initiatives involving cloud-native architectures, microservices, APIs, DevSecOps, and legacy system modernization.
- • Drive enterprise data platform transformation using Microsoft Fabric architectures.
- • Establish scalable Data & AI platforms supporting advanced analytics, machine learning, Generative AI, self-service BI, and enterprise reporting.
- • Provide technology leadership for Clinical Development, Clinical Data Management, RBQM, Regulatory, Safety, Pharmacovigilance, and Clinical Analytics platforms.
- • Partner directly with CIO, business executives, and key stakeholders to shape technology investments, innovation strategy, and digital transformation initiatives.
- • Lead large global delivery teams (100+ resources) with responsibility for organizational growth, talent development, vendor management, and delivery excellence.
- • Oversee multimillion-dollar technology portfolios, budgets, resource planning, governance, risk management, and operational performance.
- • Establish enterprise standards for architecture, security, data governance, quality, compliance, and cloud adoption.
- • Ensure compliance with GxP, HIPAA, GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11, and other regulatory requirements applicable to clinical research organizations.
- • Drive measurable outcomes related to cost optimization, productivity improvement, technology modernization, and business value realization.
- • Strong experience in managing global onsite-offshore delivery models and influencing executive stakeholders through board-level communications and governance forums.
- • Proven track record of leading large-scale cloud, application, and data transformation programs within CRO, Life Sciences, Healthcare, or regulated industries.
- • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree/MBA preferred.
- • Demonstrated executive presence, strategic thinking, organizational leadership, financial acumen, and ability to build high-performing teams in complex enterprise environments.
- Ideal Candidate Profile: A transformational technology executive with deep expertise in Application Modernization, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Cloud, Data & AI Platforms, Clinical Research Technologies, and Global Delivery Leadership, capable of partnering with the CIO to drive enterprise-wide digital transformation and technology innovation.
