Position Overview
Principal Data Architect with strong experience in enterprise data architecture, data modeling, data design, and solution engineering. The ideal candidate will be a highly proactive, forward-thinking architect who can drive data strategy and deliver results across complex technology transformation initiatives.
The Principal Data Architect will develop and execute data strategies that enable advanced end-to-end architectures, spanning transactional systems of record through data consumption, AI-driven business intelligence, predictive analytics, and natural language queries.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute enterprise-level data architecture and strategy for complex technology transformation initiatives.
Provide data technology leadership, architectural oversight, and technical guidance to ensure solutions follow established architecture principles and standards.
Design data architectures that support both transactional systems and downstream data consumption.
Lead data modeling, data design, architecture reviews, and technical solution design.
Perform Buy vs. Build analysis, evaluating available technology options through qualitative and quantitative analysis and providing clear recommendations.
Lead architecture design reviews, identify architectural gaps, and recommend design improvements.
Drive data modernization opportunities across complex enterprise and PBM data environments.
Develop data architecture guardrails, standards, guidelines, and best practices to establish strong data discipline across engineering and product teams.
Provide architectural leadership, coaching, and guidance to Engineering and Product teams.
Architect AI-driven business intelligence solutions using a Universal Semantic Layer.
Support predictive analytics and Natural Language Query capabilities.
Partner with business and IT stakeholders to develop scalable, forward-thinking data solutions.
Advise application development teams on technical roadblocks, including performance and scalability challenges.
Promote reuse of existing technology assets while identifying opportunities for modernization.
Proactively identify risks, technical gaps, and opportunities to improve data architecture and engineering practices.
Take ownership of initiatives and consistently deliver measurable results.
Required Skills
10+ years of experience in Data Architecture / Enterprise Data Architecture.
Strong expertise in Data Modeling and Data Design.
Experience designing architectures for transactional systems and data consumption.
Strong enterprise solution architecture experience.
Experience with AI-driven analytics, predictive analytics, and AI/ML data architecture.
Experience with Semantic Layers / Universal Semantic Layer concepts.
Experience with Natural Language Query (NLQ) and business intelligence platforms.
Strong understanding of modern data architecture and data modernization.
Experience conducting Buy vs. Build analysis.
Strong architecture governance and design review experience.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work proactively and independently in a complex enterprise environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate
Looking for a very strong Principal-level Data Architect who is proactive, forward-thinking, technically hands-on, and capable of driving architecture decisions rather than simply documenting them.
The candidate should have a strong understanding of how data flows from systems of record → transactional architecture → data platforms → consumption → AI/BI, with the ability to design scalable solutions that support modern analytics and AI capabilities.
