Manager of Machine Learning Research

Our client, a leading quantitative trading firm, is seeking a Manager of Machine Learning Research to lead a team focused on developing cutting-edge ML models that drive alpha generation, execution optimization, and market forecasting. This individual will combine hands-on research expertise with strong leadership capabilities, guiding a team of researchers and scientists while contributing directly to the design, development, and deployment of machine learning solutions in a fast-paced trading environment.

• Key Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor a team of Machine Learning Researchers, fostering a culture of innovation and scientific rigor.
• Drive research initiatives focused on predictive modeling, time series forecasting, reinforcement learning, and alternative data applications.
• Partner closely with quantitative researchers, traders, and engineers to translate research into production trading strategies.
• Evaluate emerging machine learning techniques and identify opportunities to generate competitive trading advantages.
• Establish research standards, experiment frameworks, and model validation methodologies.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• 7+ years of machine learning research experience, including prior leadership or management responsibility.
• Deep expertise in modern machine learning techniques, including deep learning, probabilistic modeling, and large-scale data analysis.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience working with large, complex datasets in a research-intensive environment; exposure to quantitative finance or systematic trading is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to lead research teams and deliver impactful results in a highly competitive setting.
