Role Description This part-time remote Junior Data Analyst role at Österreichisches Institut für Internationale Politik focuses on supporting research and policy projects through data-driven insights. The Junior Data Analyst will assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing quantitative and qualitative datasets from various international policy sources. The role includes performing basic exploratory data analysis, generating descriptive statistics, and contributing to the development of clear visualizations and dashboards. The Junior Data Analyst will help prepare concise data summaries, tables, and charts for internal reports, policy briefs, and presentations. Collaboration with researchers and senior analysts to refine research questions, validate findings, and ensure methodological rigor is an integral part of this position.
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills and foundational experience in data analytics, including working with structured datasets and drawing basic insights.
Basic understanding of statistics, such as descriptive measures, distributions, and introductory inferential concepts.
Ability to support simple data modeling tasks, including organizing data structures and assisting in building basic models or frameworks.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data findings in an accessible and concise way to non-specialist audiences.
Familiarity with common data tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets; experience with Python, R, or similar tools is an advantage).
Interest in international relations, political science, or related fields; prior exposure to policy or academic research is a plus.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time effectively, and collaborate with a diverse, international team.
Relevant education in data science, statistics, economics, social sciences, or a related discipline (completed or in progress).
