ITAM Analyst III – Software Asset Management (SAM/HAM Hybrid)

• About the Role
• We are seeking an experienced ITAM Analyst III to support Software Asset Management modernization and onsite Hardware Asset Management operations.
• This role focuses primarily on software licensing, entitlements, renewals, utilization, compliance, vendor governance, reporting, and lifecycle management. You will also support hardware inventory, shipping and receiving, device recovery, refresh activities, and asset audits at the Reston office.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of IT asset management experience, strong Flexera knowledge, hands-on hardware asset management experience, and the ability to analyze complex data and coordinate across multiple teams.

• What You Will Do
• Software Asset Management
• Manage software assets throughout the full lifecycle, including intake, approval, procurement support, assignment, renewal, reclamation, retirement, and compliance review.
• Maintain accurate records for software licenses, subscriptions, entitlements, contracts, vendors, application owners, users, renewal dates, and usage.
• Reconcile software asset data across Flexera, IT service management platforms, vendor records, contracts, procurement files, usage reports, and the CMDB.
• Perform license reconciliation, normalization, entitlement validation, utilization analysis, and compliance reviews.
• Identify unused, underused, duplicate, expired, overprovisioned, or noncompliant software.
• Support software requests by confirming license availability, approval requirements, entitlement status, and provisioning readiness.
• Monitor upcoming renewals and support timely decisions with Procurement, Finance, Legal, Security, application owners, and vendors.
• Identify opportunities for license reclamation, reassignment, consolidation, retirement, and cost optimization.
• Reporting, Compliance, and Vendor Governance
• Prepare software inventory, license utilization, renewal, entitlement, compliance, vendor performance, and lifecycle reports.
• Analyze asset data to identify trends, renewal risks, shadow IT, compliance concerns, and data quality gaps.
• Support software audits, true-ups, control reviews, and evidence gathering.
• Validate contracts, invoices, vendor data, billing accuracy, and renewal information.
• Improve alignment between software asset records, application ownership, vendor data, contracts, access information, and the CMDB.
• Provide accurate reporting that supports operational planning, risk management, and informed decision making.
• Process Improvement and Automation
• Identify opportunities to improve software requests, approvals, renewals, reclamation, reporting, and compliance workflows.
• Recommend process improvements that reduce manual work, increase automation, and strengthen data quality.
• Support enhancements to Flexera, Jira, IT service management platforms, CMDB systems, reporting dashboards, software discovery tools, and SaaS management platforms.
• Apply emerging technology, automation, and AI enabled tools to improve reporting, audit readiness, license utilization, and service delivery.
• Create and maintain procedures, knowledge articles, reporting guides, software request guides, and training materials.
• Stay current with SAM practices, SaaS management, software metering, entitlement normalization, CMDB practices, and license optimization methods.
• Hardware Asset Management
• Maintain accurate asset records for laptops, mobile devices, monitors, peripherals, and related technology equipment.
• Track hardware assignments, ownership, location, warranties, service agreements, and lifecycle status.
• Support hardware receiving, shipping, deployment, moves, refreshes, returns, recovery, reuse, inventory reviews, and audits.
• Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to resolve hardware asset issues.
• Assist with device recovery efforts, special projects, and occasional off-hours asset activities.

• Required Qualifications
• Five or more years of experience in IT asset management, software asset management, software licensing, SaaS administration, entitlement management, or related technology operations.
• Hands-on experience with Flexera.
• Strong knowledge of the software asset lifecycle, including licensing, entitlements, renewals, utilization, reclamation, retirement, and compliance.
• Experience performing software license reconciliation, utilization analysis, renewal tracking, compliance reviews, and audit support.
• Experience maintaining software license, subscription, entitlement, contract, vendor, ownership, and usage records.
• Ability to analyze complex asset data, identify discrepancies, document findings, and drive corrective action.
• Familiarity with IT service management platforms, Jira, CMDB systems, software discovery tools, reporting dashboards, and SaaS management platforms.
• Strong critical thinking, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate effectively across technical and business teams.
• Ability to explain licensing, entitlement, compliance, and asset information to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience managing hardware inventory, deployment, refresh, return, recovery, reuse, and disposition.
• Experience supporting software audits, true-ups, renewals, vendor reviews, and license reclamation initiatives.
• Exposure to automation, workflow orchestration, or AI enabled tools within IT asset management operations.

Hourly Pay Rate: $60-$65
