• What MIREMS does
• MIREMS provides multilingual media intelligence. We monitor foreign-language press, translate and summarize stories with direct Canadian relevance, and deliver structured daily and weekly intelligence products. Western Europe covers 33 countries across 30+ language environments.

• The role
• You will be responsible for one or more assigned language markets. Your work has three components:
• ✦ Source validation: review an assigned list of media outlets, confirm current publication status, assess editorial orientation, assign an initial relevance score. This is the entry task and the quality gate for onboarding.
• ✦ Monitoring: scan assigned sources daily or on a defined schedule; identify stories meeting the MIREMS Canada-relevance threshold; file a structured summary in English using the MIREMS template.
• ✦ Translation and annotation: provide working summaries in translation into English of priority stories; flag editorial framing, narrative alignment, and any disinformation signals.

• What we are looking for
• ✦ Native or near-native fluency in at least one of the priority languages, with strong written English.
• ✦ Background in journalism, media analysis, political science, international relations, or translation. Graduate students in relevant fields are encouraged to apply.
• ✦ Familiarity with the media landscape of the assigned country — who owns what, what the editorial lines are, which outlets matter.
• ✦ Ability to work independently to a deadline and file structured reports. MIREMS products are time-sensitive; reliability is non-negotiable.
• ✦ Discretion. The work is sensitive by nature. Consultants operate under a standard confidentiality agreement.
• ✦ Skills and equipment: Basic MS365 or equivalent, browser searches and basic AI assistance understanding, personal laptop or desktop. Additional skills welcome.
