  • Company Background
  • American Capital Management, Inc. (ACM) is a boutique investment management firm, founded in 1980, with over $2.2 billion in assets under management. The firm specializes in managing small and mid-cap portfolios for family offices, high net worth investors and institutional investors. ACM has 13 employees in total with six professionals focused on portfolio management and investment research. Currently, ACM is looking to hire an equity research analyst to enhance our capacity and strengthen the investment team.
  • ACM’s strategy is to provide superior relative returns by investing in a select group of quality small and medium-sized growth companies (typically between $100 million and $2.5 billion in sales at time of initial purchase). We favor smaller companies because they have historically outperformed over most five-year periods. We identify a proprietary universe of 100 quality growth companies based upon intensive fundamental research. We employ team-based approach which results in concentrated, high-conviction portfolios. Typically, the strategy owns 25-40 investments and favors selections with reasonable valuations and accelerating growth. We focus on the healthcare, industrial, information services and technology industries. We typically benchmark against the Russell 2500 and Russell 2500 Growth indices.
  • All investment personnel at ACM are dedicated to one strategy, Small and Medium Company Growth, which creates a focused environment where resources are directed where they are most needed. However, the firm has launched a new Small Cap strategy that will enhance the AUM capacity of the firm and create an internal need for more research resources.
  • Location
  • This role will be based in New York, NY.
  • Compensation
  • Base salary range is $135k to $175k commensurate with experience.
  • Actual base salary may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at ACM. In addition, ACM provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays, sick and vacation time off.
