About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Scientist to join our analytics team supporting HEDIS Stars measures and Population Health initiatives. This remote role offers an exciting opportunity to influence healthcare outcomes by developing advanced analytics solutions focused on In-home programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, curiosity for exploring complex datasets, and the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies. The Lead Data Scientist will be instrumental in supporting Humana's efforts to improve member engagement, close gaps in care, and enhance Stars performance through predictive modeling, segmentation, and forecasting. This role involves close collaboration with business leaders, operations teams, and other stakeholders to ensure analytics solutions align with organizational goals and drive measurable results. The position requires working within Eastern Standard Time business hours, offering flexibility and the convenience of remote work.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
- 4+ years of experience in data analytics, preferably within healthcare
- At least 2 years of project leadership experience
- Proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL for data manipulation and modeling
- Experience working with large datasets in cloud-based environments
- Strong knowledge of healthcare analytics, including Population Health, Medicare Advantage, HEDIS, and Stars measures
- Experience developing forecasting, segmentation, and predictive models
- Excellent business analysis and consulting skills, with the ability to link analytics to strategic outcomes
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end data science solutions, including problem definition, data exploration, model development, and insight delivery
- Develop forecasts to project member eligibility, program volumes, and operational capacity needs
- Identify and evaluate leading indicators to predict future performance, risks, or opportunities
- Assist in setting benchmarks, targets, and goals for program planning and performance management
- Measure program effectiveness and quantify business impact through analytics
- Create segmentation models to enable targeted outreach, intervention planning, and member prioritization
- Build and deploy machine learning models within cloud environments using Python, PySpark, and SQL
- Model care gap closure opportunities and assess their potential impact on HEDIS Stars measures
- Translate complex data insights and modeling approaches into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical audiences
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business partners, data scientists, technology, and operations to deliver scalable solutions
