About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Data Scientist to join our Visualization Solutions team. In this role, you will partner with multidisciplinary teams to define and develop product analytics and applied AI practices that enhance our visualization offerings. You will be instrumental in integrating data science into the product engineering lifecycle, from instrumentation and experimentation to advanced analytics and machine learning. Your work will focus on solving complex, high-scale problems by transforming product and platform data into actionable insights that directly influence visualization performance, user adoption, and overall customer experience. Reporting to the Director of Experience Design within IGS Visualization Solutions, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Autodesk’s visualization capabilities through data-driven decision-making and innovative AI applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in data science, advanced analytics, or business analytics roles.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with complex, large-scale datasets from multiple sources.
- Hands-on experience with analytics and BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, Splunk, Mixpanel, or similar platforms.
- Strong programming skills in Python or R for statistical analysis and data processing.
- Experience with big data technologies and cloud-based data environments such as AWS, Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery, Spark, or similar.
- Ability to develop and implement scalable data pipelines, models, and schemas aligned with product needs.
- Excellent systems thinking and experience building analytics foundations in complex environments.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data interpretation.
- Effective communication skills, capable of presenting complex insights clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Drive business and product planning through insights derived from product usage, adoption metrics, feature utilization, performance, and reliability data.
- Design and implement robust data models, schemas, and architectures to support analytics and platform needs.
- Audit existing product, platform, and data systems for completeness and accuracy, enhancing instrumentation to enable reliable analytics.
- Build and optimize scalable data pipelines, including cloud-based ETL processes and large-scale data structures for analytics and machine learning applications.
- Develop processes for data ingestion, transformation, and distribution into internal systems and applications.
- Collaborate with engineering and platform teams to identify and resolve data quality issues, ensuring data integrity.
- Create dashboards, perform analyses, and develop experimentation frameworks that translate raw data into actionable insights.
- Provide rigorous ad hoc analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making processes.
- Communicate complex findings effectively to cross-functional teams and senior leadership, influencing product development and optimization strategies.
