2. About the Opportunity:

The Data Scientist role supports mission requirements by developing, integrating, and sustaining a scalable, federated data ecosystem for a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. The position aims to bridge operational gaps among DoD, intelligence community, interagency, and international partners to enable real-time information sharing, dynamic data integration, and mission-focused analytics.

3. Responsibilities:

  • • Develop and refine predictive models, conduct exploratory data analysis, and generate AI-driven insights to improve intelligence and operational planning.
  • • Incorporate customer feedback into model iterations using Agile development methods.
  • • Submit Predictive Model Performance Reports documenting findings, accuracy metrics, and operational impacts.
  • • Implement sprint-based Agile methodologies for rapid development, backlog management, and alignment with mission needs.
  • • Provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) Estimate Reports before analytics projects, detailing expected resources and costs.
  • • Conduct quarterly reviews to assess cost efficiency, system performance, and optimize analytic workflows.

4. Requirements:

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field; or seven years of equivalent experience in machine learning and predictive modeling.
  • • Knowledge of developing and refining predictive models, analyzing large datasets, and documenting analytic processes.
  • • Proficiency in data mining, statistical modeling, AI forecasting techniques, and handling structured and unstructured data.
  • • Experience with data visualization, feature selection, and geospatial analytics.
  • • Ability to integrate data from multiple sources, ensure model accuracy, and work within Agile sprint cycles.
  • • Experience in exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, statistical testing, and proficiency with Python, R, SQL, and relevant data science libraries.
  • • Experience with cloud-based AI/ML tools such as AWS SageMaker or Azure Machine Learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, Microsoft Certified Azure AI Fundamentals, or Certified Data Scientist (CDS) are desirable but not required.

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• USD 67351 - USD 139882 yearly
