About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our team for the upcoming Technical Project Support Services (TPSS) contract based in Patuxent, MD. This pivotal role involves leading the development and application of advanced data analytics techniques to support the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Webster Outlying Field (WOLF). The Senior Data Scientist will play a crucial role in transforming large volumes of raw data into actionable insights that inform strategic decision-making and enhance operational effectiveness. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to national security efforts through innovative data science methodologies and collaboration with a dynamic team of experts.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess at least ten (10) years of relevant experience in data science or a related field. A master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a closely related discipline is preferred; however, candidates with a bachelor’s degree plus four (4) additional years of pertinent experience may also be considered. Proficiency in data-oriented programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL is essential, along with experience using visualization software like Tableau or Power BI. Strong communication skills are required to effectively convey complex analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences. Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment. Physical ability to lift up to 15-25 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods is necessary. Security clearance at the Secret level is required, and US citizenship is mandatory for eligibility.

Responsibilities

The Senior Data Scientist will oversee the application of various advanced analytical techniques, including data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning, to extract meaningful insights from structured and unstructured datasets. They will guide the visualization, interpretation, and reporting of data findings, ensuring that insights are communicated clearly and effectively to stakeholders. The role includes creating dynamic data reports that support strategic planning and operational decision-making. Additionally, the Senior Data Scientist will support and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional growth. Collaboration with senior project teams to apply innovative analytical methodologies and improve project outcomes is also a key aspect of this role.
