About The Role

The Strategic Data Scientist at McKesson’s CoverMyMeds division plays a vital role in driving the company's success through advanced analytics and data-driven insights. This position is responsible for refining value propositions and supporting key customer teams by providing high-quality, actionable analytics derived from large, complex datasets. The primary focus is on maximizing efficiency by prioritizing work that directly influences business outcomes and enhances customer value.

The Strategic Data Scientist collaborates extensively with various business units, including sales, product management, and customer success teams, to deliver insights that inform strategic decision-making. The role involves developing predictive models, performing statistical analyses, and creating visualizations that clearly communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, demonstrates curiosity, and excels at transforming raw data into meaningful stories that support business growth and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business, Public Health, or a related field; healthcare experience is highly preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in an analytics role within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of data science methodologies, including decision trees, multivariate analysis, segmentation modeling, regression analysis, forecasting, and machine learning.
  • Experience with statistical software such as Python, R, MATLAB, SAS, or similar tools.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
  • Skilled in data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Excel.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data issues quickly and effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to present insights clearly and manage stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with Customer Success Teams (CSTs) and external clients by demonstrating the value of McKesson products through compelling data stories.
  • Deliver proactive analyses of portfolio performance, customer needs, and market trends, including identifying risks and opportunities based on industry events.
  • Apply advanced statistical methods and predictive modeling techniques to analyze product data, identify key drivers, and forecast future outcomes.
  • Monitor the health of client portfolios, provide regular updates to stakeholders, and escalate issues promptly to ensure timely resolution.
  • Create clear, concise visualizations and reports that translate complex data into actionable insights for clients and internal teams.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance product value and improve analytical processes, ensuring continuous innovation and efficiency.
  • Support complex client requests and issue escalations by working closely with account teams and technical staff.
  • Contribute to strategic planning by providing insights that influence product development, competitive positioning, and operational improvements.
  • Develop deep expertise in CoverMyMeds, the pharmaceutical industry, and the specific business contexts of supported accounts to deliver tailored solutions.
