Role Description The Data Science Vice President is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading data-driven initiatives across BRK Capital’s public and private market investments. This position oversees the design and implementation of advanced analytical models to support portfolio construction, risk management, and deal evaluation. Day-to-day responsibilities include directing data science projects, mentoring data scientists and analysts, and collaborating with investment teams to translate business questions into quantitative frameworks. The role involves developing scalable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and applying machine learning and statistical methods to uncover patterns and insights in complex financial datasets. The Vice President will also contribute to strategic planning, present findings to senior leadership, and help shape the firm’s long-term data and analytics roadmap.
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills with the ability to structure complex problems, interpret results, and communicate clear, actionable insights.
Expertise in data science and data analytics, including experience building predictive models, working with large datasets, and deploying data solutions in production environments.
Solid foundation in statistics and pattern recognition, with practical experience applying these methods to financial or investment-related data.
Proficiency in modern data tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and familiarity with cloud-based data platforms.
Proven leadership experience managing data science or analytics teams, including setting direction, prioritizing projects, and developing talent.
Background in finance, economics, or related fields, with experience in investment management, quantitative research, or financial modeling strongly preferred.
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across remote, cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholders.
