About The Role

Ibotta is seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Scientist specializing in Core Data & Analytics to join our innovative team. This pivotal role focuses on developing and deploying advanced data assets and analytics solutions tailored for the revenue organization. As a key member of our Data Science team, you will leverage the latest developments in statistics and machine learning to identify strategic opportunities, support business initiatives, and generate measurable value. Your responsibilities will include building reliable machine learning models, creating greenfield opportunities that drive significant impact, and owning critical initiatives within core business domains. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, data engineers, and architects to discover, cleanse, and refine data, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, actionable insights. This position offers flexibility, with options for remote work in multiple states or hybrid arrangements in Denver, Colorado, including relocation support and bonuses for those moving to the Denver metro area.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, or related fields with a proven record of impactful contributions
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Analytics, or a closely related discipline
• Expertise in developing, applying, and optimizing machine learning and statistical algorithms
• Proficiency in Python, with strong skills in libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
• Experience with Spark/PySpark and MLOps practices is highly desirable
• Strong statistical analysis skills, including experimental design and hypothesis testing
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tell compelling data stories and collaborate effectively across teams
• Experience with large-scale data analysis, data pipeline development, and model deployment in production environments
• Active engagement in the data science community through conferences, publications, or online presence is a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise and ownership of foundational models related to measurement, forecasting, and optimization of content
• Establish and promote best practices within the data science team, setting high standards for quality and efficiency
• Collaborate with stakeholders, data engineers, and architects to discover, define, and refine data needed for analysis and modeling
• Analyze large, complex, and novel datasets to extract actionable insights that inform business decisions and strategies
• Create customized data views and dashboards to support business analysis and decision-making processes
• Design and build machine learning models using various statistical and advanced ML techniques, selecting appropriate algorithms for specific problems
• Harden data pipelines and models for reliable production deployment, including ongoing monitoring of model performance
• Become an expert on Ibotta’s data ecosystem and how teams leverage data to solve domain-specific challenges
• Mentor and educate team members and other departments to foster a data-driven culture
• Drive innovation by initiating greenfield projects that have the potential to significantly impact revenue and operational efficiency
