About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join the Audible economics team at Amazon. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of data science, economics, and product strategy within a pioneering digital media environment. The ideal candidate will possess an economist’s mindset and be adept at translating complex business questions into robust quantitative frameworks. You will leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to develop scalable, interpretable, and production-ready models and systems that influence key business decisions. This position requires a proactive individual who automates repetitive tasks, builds tools that amplify team impact, and integrates AI seamlessly into workflows. As part of the Audible team, you will collaborate with economists, analysts, and product partners to drive insights, optimize strategies, and measure impact across the organization.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or a related quantitative field, coupled with at least two years of industry experience. Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, with demonstrated ability to handle large datasets, conduct empirical analyses, and create compelling data visualizations. Familiarity with economic principles such as incentive design, casual reasoning, and counterfactual analysis is highly desirable. Candidates should possess a strong intellectual curiosity about customer value and business outcomes, along with the ability to lead ambiguous projects from inception to completion. Experience applying econometric methods at scale, including structural modeling and observational causal inference, is preferred. Additional qualifications include experience with model monitoring, debugging, long-term maintenance in production, and familiarity with financial and accounting metrics.

Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist at Audible, your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and scale econometric and machine learning models. You will own the end-to-end process, from scoping and data pipelining to feature engineering, model development, deployment, and impact evaluation. You will research and evaluate emerging AI-driven tools and identify innovative data sources to enhance analytical work. Working closely with Product, Content, and Marketing teams, you will ensure that insights and models are integrated into operational workflows and strategic decision-making. You will represent the team in various settings, including reviews with senior Amazon scientists and business leaders. Additionally, you will mentor junior scientists, helping to elevate the overall quality and scalability of analytical initiatives, and promote the adoption of AI-enabled solutions across the organization.
