About The Role

We are seeking a driven and entrepreneurial Data Science Engineer to join our dynamic team. This fully remote position within the United States offers an exciting opportunity to influence healthcare pricing transparency through advanced data engineering and analytics. As part of our Data Science Engineering team, you will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to develop scalable data pipelines, models, and dashboards that convert complex data into actionable insights. Your work will support strategic decision-making, product development, and operational efficiency, ultimately helping Turquoise Health grow and scale its impact. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, a passion for healthcare innovation, and an entrepreneurial mindset to prioritize tasks aligned with evolving business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; non-traditional backgrounds are welcome
  • 2+ years of experience developing data models, pipelines, and end-to-end analytical solutions
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with a solid understanding of object-oriented and functional programming patterns
  • Experience working with dataframe libraries such as pandas and polars
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT workflows and orchestration tools like Airflow and dbt
  • Familiarity with cloud services including AWS S3, EC2, and RDS
  • Ability to design scalable, high-performance, and cost-efficient data systems for compute- and data-intensive workloads
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote environment
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to adapt to changing business priorities

Responsibilities

  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders to define key metrics, measure outcomes, and evaluate impact
  • Build and maintain robust data pipelines, data models, dashboards, and analytical infrastructure to support product, operational, and strategic decisions
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses to understand product adoption, customer engagement, business performance, and operational efficiency
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of analytics best practices, shared datasets, and company-wide metrics
  • Seek and incorporate feedback from internal stakeholders, iterating quickly to deliver value-driven solutions
  • Ensure data systems are scalable, performant, and optimized for cost efficiency
  • Support the automation of data workflows and improve existing data infrastructure
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance data engineering capabilities
