- About the Role
- This is a player/coach leadership role where you’ll combine hands-on technical execution with team leadership. You’ll lead a team of Data Specialists while personally owning complex implementations, troubleshooting data pipelines, and partnering cross-functionally to improve systems and processes.
- You’ll be deeply embedded in the work—writing SQL, configuring integrations, solving complex data challenges—while also shaping team culture, performance, and scalability.

- What You’ll Do
- Team Leadership & Coaching
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data implementation specialists
- Set clear expectations, run 1:1s, and support career growth
- Own team performance, capacity planning, and workload distribution
- Foster a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
- Lead team rituals (standups, retrospectives, reviews)
- Translate high-level strategy into actionable team processes
- Technical Execution (Hands-On Leadership)
- Personally configure and troubleshoot complex data integrations across external systems
- Write and leverage SQL for validation, transformation, and debugging
- Act as the escalation point for high-complexity technical challenges
- Partner with Product and Engineering to improve tooling and data pipelines
- Domain Expertise & Strategy
- Serve as a subject matter expert across data systems and integration workflows
- Guide best practices for extracting and leveraging data from external platforms
- Stay current on industry trends, tooling, and ecosystem changes
- Influence data strategy and identify opportunities for new integrations and partnerships
- Partner Collaboration
- Lead high-impact partner engagements, including complex onboardings and escalations
- Communicate technical requirements clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Build trust with clients through strong delivery and problem-solving
- Operations & Process Excellence
- Own and evolve team playbooks, documentation, and quality standards
- Identify systemic issues and drive improvements at scale
- Ensure operational efficiency, especially during peak periods
- Continuously refine workflows to balance speed, quality, and scalability
- What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years in a technical, data-focused role, with at least 2 years in leadership or mentorship
- Strong experience working with data integrations, pipelines, and external systems
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and data troubleshooting
- Proven ability to operate as a player/coach—leading while staying hands-on
- Strong data analysis skills and a deep understanding of data quality best practices
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts
- Track record of making sound decisions in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Experience scaling processes and teams in a high-growth environment
Nice to have:
- Experience within education, public sector, or complex multi-stakeholder environments
- Familiarity with large system integrations (ERP, SIS, APIs, SFTP, etc.)
