Data Engineer | Python & Database Engineering | Montreal

• Position: Data Engineer
• Location: Montreal, QC – Hybrid (3 days/week onsite)

• Main Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain data engineering and database infrastructure supporting trade data extraction, enrichment, reporting, and distribution.
• Perform database engineering, performance optimization, testing, and troubleshooting across RDBMS and NoSQL platforms, including MongoDB.
• Develop Python scripts and automation solutions to support database operations, data processing, and application workflows.
• Contribute to database platform migrations, version upgrades, replication initiatives, and the adoption of cloud-based data technologies.
• Support the design, implementation, and optimization of high-performance, enterprise-scale transactional databases and data environments.
• Collaborate within an Agile, fast-paced, geographically distributed team to deliver resilient, high-quality solutions while meeting business and technical requirements.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years of relevant experience in Data Engineering, Database Engineering, Software Development, or a related field; strong new graduates may also be considered.
• Solid experience with Python scripting and development, with the ability to automate data and database-related processes.
• Working knowledge of MongoDB and familiarity with major RDBMS technologies such as Sybase, DB2, or Microsoft SQL Server.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line environments.
• Understanding of database performance optimization, data engineering concepts, and enterprise-scale transactional database environments.
• Fluent English with strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Nice-to-have experience: Data modeling, Git, ETL tools such as Talend/Informatica, database replication, cloud data platforms, or experience working with geographically distributed teams.
