About The Company

Xplore Inc. is Canada's leading fibre, 5G, and satellite broadband provider dedicated to enhancing connectivity in rural communities. Committed to delivering reliable and innovative broadband services, Xplore aims to bridge the digital divide and foster sustainable development across remote and underserved regions. The company is building a state-of-the-art fibre optic and 5G wireless network infrastructure to support advanced broadband solutions that improve everyday life for Canadians today and future generations. With a focus on technological excellence and customer satisfaction, Xplore strives to become a trusted partner in rural connectivity, empowering communities with high-speed internet access and digital opportunities.

About The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer within the Network Intelligence team at Xplore Inc., you will play a critical role in developing and maintaining the end-to-end data pipeline ecosystem that underpins the company's network analytics, observability, and artificial intelligence capabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to design, build, and operate robust data pipelines that process telemetry data from diverse network platforms, including Fiber, Fixed Wireless, and Satellite systems, across both cloud and on-premise environments. You will ensure that network modeling outputs are accurately structured, governed, and delivered as trusted enterprise assets, supporting predictive analytics, machine learning models, and operational dashboards utilized by network engineers, operational teams, and executive leadership.

This role requires a deep understanding of data architecture, pipeline development, and enterprise data governance principles. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Scientists, Network Engineers, and AI/Observability engineers, contributing to platform standards and mentoring junior team members. Your work will directly influence the company's ability to optimize network performance, enhance predictive maintenance, and improve overall network reliability.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess at least 7 years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of developing production-grade data pipelines. Expertise in Databricks platform components such as Spark optimization, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks Workflows or Delta Live Tables is essential. Strong proficiency in Python and PySpark for building scalable and efficient data processing solutions is required. A solid understanding of medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) and enterprise data governance standards is necessary. Experience with streaming data ingestion patterns using tools like Kafka, Event Hubs, or Databricks Auto Loader is highly desirable. Candidates should also have hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 and related Azure data platform components. Excellent data modeling skills for handling time-series and high-frequency event data, along with strong communication and mentorship abilities, are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable, production-grade ELT pipelines using Databricks (PySpark, Delta Live Tables, Databricks Workflows) to ingest telemetry data from RAN, transport, core, and cloud network platforms.
  • Manage and maintain Bronze, Silver, and Gold tier datasets for all network domains, ensuring schema governance, data quality, and SLA adherence within Unity Catalog.
  • Build and support data pipelines and infrastructure across both cloud and on-premises environments, including developing new on-prem solutions for network telemetry and analytics workloads.
  • Ensure the delivery of structured Bronze and Silver network modeling outputs into the enterprise Gold tier, aligned with corporate data architecture standards.
  • Implement partitioning, clustering, and incremental load strategies to efficiently process large-scale time-series and event-driven network telemetry data.
  • Define, document, and maintain canonical data models for network telemetry entities such as cells, sites, circuits, alarms, and performance counters.
  • Incorporate data quality checks, alerting mechanisms, and SLA monitoring to maintain operational reliability and data integrity.
  • Partner with Data Scientists to produce feature-rich datasets suitable for machine learning model training and inference pipelines.
  • Collaborate with GIS Data Engineers to integrate geospatial dimensions into network telemetry datasets for enhanced spatial analysis.
  • Translate network engineering data requirements into detailed pipeline specifications and development roadmaps, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards are met.
