About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Developer to join our dynamic team at Farm Credit Canada. In this pivotal role, you will leverage your expertise in cloud-native development and data analytics to design, develop, and implement innovative solutions that empower our business operations. The Senior Developer will work extensively with AWS tools and platforms, utilizing their technical acumen to create scalable, efficient, and maintainable code. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead technical initiatives, mentor peers, and contribute to strategic projects that directly impact the organization’s mission to support Canadian agriculture. Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a combination of education and experience that aligns with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of seven years of software development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Expert-level proficiency in AWS technologies such as AWS Glue, Step Functions, S3, Redshift, Quicksight, Lambda, Eventbridge, and AppFlow.
- Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark, Typescript, and SQL.
- In-depth knowledge of common design patterns and their applications, including object-oriented programming (OOP) and functional programming (FP).
- Experience in optimizing system design to enable business value creation through analytics.
- Proven experience in code reviews, application design, and system integration.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred qualifications include expertise in data modeling methodologies such as Data Vault 2.0 and Dimensional (Star Schema), experience in coaching and mentoring peers, and a background in Canadian agricultural business knowledge.
Responsibilities
The Senior Developer will be responsible for a broad range of technical and collaborative tasks, including:
- Analyzing and developing new code, with a focus on automation, integration, and unit testing to ensure robust solutions.
- Utilizing AWS frameworks and patterns, primarily infrastructure as code with CDK, to design and implement scalable solutions.
- Collaborating on architectural design decisions, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and align with organizational standards.
- Maintaining and enhancing technical solutions and system integrations for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implementing code fixes, supporting user acceptance testing, and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Leading or participating in group design and coding sessions to promote best practices and knowledge sharing.
- Designing data processing applications, data models, and analytics solutions to support business insights.
- Contributing to code reviews by providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to coding standards.
- Explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to facilitate understanding and collaboration.
- Working closely with analytics users, data scientists, and ML specialists to develop cloud-native solutions that drive data-driven decision-making.
