Data Center Travelling Superintendent

Key Responsibilities
- Site & Construction Management
- Supervise daily construction operations on data center builds
- Coordinate subcontractors (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, etc.)
- Enforce project schedules and milestones
- Read and interpret blueprints, specs, and technical drawings
- Data Center–Specific Oversight
- Manage installation of critical infrastructure:
- Power systems (UPS, generators)
- Cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH units)
- Raised flooring, cabling, fire suppression
- Ensure compliance with uptime/reliability standards (Tier I–IV)
- Travel & Multi-Site Coordination
- Travel frequently (often 75–100%) to active job sites
- Rotate between projects or stay on-site for extended durations
- Report progress to corporate/project leadership remotely
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce OSHA and site safety standards
- Conduct site inspections and safety meetings
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations
- Team Leadership
- Lead field crews and subcontractors
- Resolve on-site conflicts or delays
- Mentor junior supervisors or foremen
- Quality Control & Reporting
- Perform inspections and punch lists
- Track progress, budgets, and issues
- Maintain daily logs and reports
- Required Skills & Experience
- Strong background in commercial or mission-critical construction
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with scheduling tools (Primavera P6, MS Project)
- Ability to manage fast-paced, high-stakes builds
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Typical Qualifications
- High school diploma or construction-related degree
- 5–10+ years in construction supervision
- Experience with data centers or large-scale MEP projects
- OSHA certification (often required)
- Travel Expectations
- Heavy travel (major part of the job)
- Extended stays near project sites
- Flexibility with relocation or temporary assignments
- Work Environment
- Primarily on active construction sites
- Long hours and tight deadlines
- Physically demanding and detail-intensive
