Data Center Technician

A leading technology staffing firm is seeking a skilled Data Center Technician to join a team working with a key client. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and emergency response within data center environments, contributing to the resilience and scalability of critical infrastructure.

The Role

• Operate and implement data center processes following ITIL standards for incident, problem, and change management
• Serve as a primary technical contact and local point of escalation for Data Center Services & Facilities teams
• Identify operational trends, analyze risks, and communicate potential implications to data center operations
• Develop and implement strategies to future-proof data center environments for scalability and adaptability
• Coordinate with IT Infrastructure teams to fulfill requests, perform changes, and respond to incidents
• Lead data center projects and configure/decommission devices, including baseline installation and network validation

What You'll Need

• Advanced knowledge of servers, network cabling, and data center hardware
• Understanding of data center electrical, mechanical, and network system operations
• Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills
• Experience with enterprise network hardware (switches, routers) and protocols (BGP, TCP/IP, DHCP)
• Knowledge of network topologies (Ethernet, VLANs, MPLS, VPNs) and network security infrastructure
• Experience with Windows and Linux server operating systems and directory services
