Role Description: The Data Analyst will report to the Executive Director of Data Analytics and will work to support data analysis needs across the organization. This is a full-time position with an immediate start date, with an annual salary of $65,000-85,000, commensurate with skill and experience. NSNO maintains a primarily remote work environment; however, only candidates residing in the Greater New Orleans region will be considered for employment. This position requires attendance at in-person meetings, events, and organizational activities in the New Orleans area throughout the year.
- This role is an excellent fit for someone who believes in the power of data, is detail-oriented, committed to data accuracy, and is eager to identify data trends and takeaways to support improved NSNO, school-based, and system-wide policies and practices. The key functions of this role include the following:
- • Managing and connecting large and often complex datasets to help understand and communicate insights about our students, teachers, schools, and system
- Excellent Public Schools for Every Child.
- • Supporting NSNO’s data processes, including managing data requests, updating internal files, and sharing important school- and system-level data across the organization
- • Developing materials and visualizations to communicate data trends to internal and public audiences
- • Collaborating with external partners to further data efforts in support of NSNO’s policy, system planning, and school investment strategies.
Qualifications
- • Strong proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas (e.g., Index/Match, V/X Lookup) and Pivot Tables
- • Demonstrated ability to create clear and interpretable charts, graphs, and other visualizations using Excel, Tableau, or other software
- • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
- • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (4 years) professional experience with quantitative analysis
- • Extreme attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- • A self-starter who is able to work independently
- • Highly organized with exceptional communication skills and professional demeanor
- • Ability to multi-task and drive forward several projects simultaneously
- • A commitment to NSNO’s core values of solutions, excellence, passion, and equity
- • An interest in the New Orleans education ecosystem, including a motivation to improve outcomes through meeting the varied needs of our students and educators
- • Based in the New Orleans metro area
- Preferred Qualifications
- • Work or volunteer experience demonstrating a commitment to New Orleans public schools
- • Degree specialization or substantial coursework in Education, Policy, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analysis, Computer Science, or other related field of study
- • Experience with data analysis in Stata, R, Python, or another programming language
