Overview

A global alternative investment firm is seeking a Compensation Manager to join its centralized compensation function. This role supports a large, global non-investment employee population and sits at the intersection of compensation strategy, financial analysis, and senior stakeholder advisory.

The position offers meaningful exposure to firm leadership and ownership across compensation design, modeling, planning cycles, and ongoing program governance in a highly analytical, performance-driven environment.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Design, model, and administer compensation programs for ~1,000 global non-investment professionals across finance, technology, legal, HR, investor relations, and operations
  • Partner with senior leaders and HR business partners on annual and mid-year compensation cycles, including salary and incentive planning
  • Develop and maintain competitive compensation frameworks; lead benchmarking, offer structuring, and pay-decision analysis
  • Perform compensation-related financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning in partnership with FP&A
  • Contribute to incentive plan design, equity-related programs, and carried interest frameworks where applicable
  • Translate complex quantitative analysis into concise, executive-level recommendations and materials
  • Improve compensation analytics, tools, and processes to increase efficiency, consistency, and scalability
  • Act as a trusted advisor on compensation matters across the organization
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior compensation professionals
  • Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in an analytics-driven environment with direct ownership of compensation strategy and planning
  • (Candidates with ~7–15 years of experience considered depending on scope and complexity)
  • Experience within financial services, asset management, or similarly rigorous professional services environments strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in compensation modeling, benchmarking, and incentive design
  • Strong financial and accounting fluency; comfort operating at a budget, forecast, and P&L level
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large, complex data sets; exposure to Workday, Power BI, or similar tools is a plus
  • Executive presence with the ability to advise, challenge, and influence senior stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented, structured thinker who thrives in fast-paced, high-expectation cultures
  • Compensation & Structure
  • Total compensation: approximately $178K – $205K
  • Base salary: $130K – $150K (DOE)
  • Annual bonus: ~20%
  • Profit sharing: meaningful employer contribution; program details shared in process
