Clinical Data Abstractor

Must Have:

• Active Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification required, formerly known as Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR)
• Minimum 2 years of cancer registry abstraction experience
• Experience reviewing medical records and abstracting cancer data
• Knowledge of cancer registry data standards and coding requirements Knowledge of disease index and pathology reports
• Knowledge of human anatomy Strong computer and data-entry skills High school diploma or equivalent

Day to Day:

The Cancer Registry Certified Data Abstractor is responsible for case-finding and accurate abstraction of cancer data for HCA hospitals. This individual will review medical records, identify reportable cancer cases, abstract required clinical information, complete edit checks, and support timely submissions in accordance with Commission on Cancer (CoC), State Central Cancer Registry, and National Cancer Data Base (NCDB) standards.
