# Senior Business Analyst

## About the Role

HMS, a Gainwell Company, is seeking a **Senior Business Analyst** to support healthcare technology initiatives that help improve the health and well-being of vulnerable communities. This role combines business analysis, healthcare claims expertise, financial reconciliation, data analysis, and client engagement to help ensure business and technical solutions align with client objectives.

The Senior Business Analyst will work with client engagement and technical teams to gather and document requirements, analyze business processes, troubleshoot claims and payment issues, and identify potential solutions. The role requires strong knowledge of medical and pharmacy claims, Medicaid reclamation claims, SQL, and enterprise financial systems.

## Key Responsibilities

  • * Post payments to **medical and pharmacy claims** from paper and electronic EOBs on a daily basis.
  • * Reconcile accounts receivable (AR) and correct discrepancies or posting issues.
  • * Identify, analyze, and resolve errors related to claim postings and payments.
  • * Participate in client engagement meetings to gather and document business requirements.
  • * Explore potential solutions to client business needs and requirements.
  • * Analyze and document client business requirements and business processes using established methodologies.
  • * Communicate documented business requirements and process information to technical personnel.
  • * Use SQL to extract and analyze data from relational databases.
  • * Troubleshoot business and data issues independently and apply critical thinking to identify appropriate solutions.
  • * Support activities related to medical claims, pharmacy claims, and Medicaid reclamation claims.

## Required Qualifications

### Education & Experience

  • * **Bachelor's degree** in Business, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field; **OR**
  • * **3–5 years of experience in medical claims posting and reconciliation**.

### Healthcare & Business Analysis

  • * Solid understanding of **medical and pharmacy claims adjudication**.
  • * Knowledge of **Medicaid reclamation claims**.
  • * Experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements and processes.
  • * Ability to communicate business requirements effectively to technical teams.

### Technical Skills

  • * Proficiency in **SQL**.
  • * Ability to extract and analyze data from relational databases.
  • * Familiarity with **PeopleSoft Finance** or similar enterprise financial systems.
  • * Experience with **FTP protocols and secure file transfer**.

### Core Competencies

  • * Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • * Ability to troubleshoot independently.
  • * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • * Strong attention to detail.
  • * Strong organizational skills.

## Work Arrangement & Location

  • * **Work Mode: Virtual (Exception only).**
  • * Fully remote options are available from most U.S. locations and territories.
  • * Listed locations include **Any City, Mississippi** and **Any City, Texas**.
  • * Video cameras are required during all interviews and during the initial week of orientation.
  • * A photo will be taken during screening for verification throughout the recruitment process.

## Compensation & Benefits

**Salary Range: $69,400 – $99,200 USD per year**

Actual base pay may vary based on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other applicable factors.
