Baseball Analytics Internship - Synergy

The Analytics Internship requires a deep passion for baseball and a strong desire to leverage data to help make our team better. The data collected by the Analytics Intern will aid in the development of our players, and help them to get exposure from MLB Scouting Departments. Responsibilities include: 

● Responsible for overseeing and administrating Synergy for all home games; ensuring that all camera angles operate as planned, and that all video is clean and uploaded in a timely manner 

● Monitoring SwampBats Synergy data to ensure data accuracy 

● Work in conjunction with Trackman operator to find best fit opportunities for data utilization in applicable ways to improve on-field performance 

● Aid in producing advance scouting reports for usage by coaching staff in game 

● Provide Synergy video & Trackman data to other departments (Broadcasting, Social Media) as requested 

● Quickly, and effectively troubleshoot any technical issues with Synergy 

● Backend Synergy administration 

● Be creative in finding new ways to promote player data throughout other parts of the SwampBats organization (i.e. marketing, brand development, TrackMan Top Performers, etc.) 

● Ad-hoc projects as requested 

● Be point of contact for any Synergy related inquiries

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

● A deep love and passion for baseball 

● Knowledge of current baseball research, statistics, and strategy 

● Experience tagging collegiate games with Trackman 

● Experience as a Synergy administrator 

● Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Excel, SQL, R, and Python preferred

 ● Ability to leverage different forms of technology 

● Effectively use, and leverage, artificial intelligence 

● Strong attention to detail 

● Strong oral and written communications skills 

● Ability to work in a high stress environment 

● Ability to take explain advanced data in simplified terms to non-technical stakeholders 

● Willingness to work nontraditional hours - late nights, weekends 

Additional Info: This job is full time and runs from late May - early August. This is an unpaid internship, but we provide housing, a game-night meal, and a $400 stipend. Your own transportation is encouraged but not necessary.
