About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Engineer to join our Data Foundations team at Stripe. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines, models, and products that support critical functions across Product, Data Science, and Go-To-Market teams. Your work will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of data that drive strategic decision-making and operational excellence within the organization. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of data engineering and product development, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to build scalable data infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex data challenges, improve data quality, and enable data-driven insights that impact the entire organization. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a Software Engineering role focused on building and maintaining data services or data-intensive applications
  • Proficiency in backend development languages such as Scala, Java, or Go
  • Strong SQL skills with experience in writing and debugging complex queries
  • Experience with distributed data frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop, or Pig
  • Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools like Apache Airflow
  • Inquisitive mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively across teams, derive requirements, and architect shared datasets
  • Experience creating and maintaining Data Marts to support business reporting needs (preferred)
  • Experience working with Product or GTM (Sales/Marketing) teams (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and own scalable data pipelines, models, and products that support Product, Data Science, and GTM functions
  • Manage service level agreements (SLAs) for data pipelines and full-stack web applications supporting critical stakeholders
  • Build and refine Stripe’s data infrastructure, including pipelines, data marts, and tools, utilizing technologies such as Scala, Spark, and Airflow
  • Leverage large language models (LLMs) and intelligent agents to generate high-quality data solutions for complex, ambiguous problems
  • Enhance existing data marts to enable accurate forecasting and measurement of business performance and targets
  • Develop data services to track key product metrics and evaluate the impact of strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and architect shared datasets that drive insights and operational efficiencies
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through thorough troubleshooting and root cause analysis of data inconsistencies
