The Climate Change and Health Equity (CCHE) Branch embeds health and equity in California climate planning and policy and embeds climate change and equity in public health planning and policy. The CCHE Branch works across agencies to integrate health equity into California’s climate change policies, plans, and investments; increases the capacity of health departments, Tribes, and communities to address climate change and health equity; and provides data, research, and tools to identify, prevent, and reduce the health effects of climate change and maximize the health and racial equity benefits of climate action.

Job Description And Duties

The Analyst II works under the direction of the Climate Surveillance Program Section (CSPS) Manager, with general direction provided by the CCHE Branch Manager. The Analyst II performs the more responsible, varied, and complex technical analytical staff services assignments for the Branch. The Analyst II analyzes administrative needs of the Branch and ensures their fulfillment through execution of the program functions of procurement/contracting, budgeting and budget maintenance, and meeting scheduling and coordination. The Analyst II coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of internal and external business processes and support systems within the Branch.
Salary and Benefits: The position pays $6,031 per month ($72,372 annually) for candidates new to State service, increasing to $7,547 per month ($90,564 annually) within five years upon satisfactory performance. Additional raises may be negotiated by the union. State benefits are excellent including a defined-benefit pension.
This is a hybrid position, requiring two days per week in the office or in the field, with up to three days a week telework. Up to 5% travel may be required for the position.
In July 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This program temporarily reduces employees’ monthly base pay in exchange for paid leave credits. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges shown on this job posting do not reflect the salary reduction.
