- About the Role
- McCulley Financial is seeking a Wealth Analyst to own trading, portfolio construction, investment research, and investment operations for the firm's individual and corporate clients. This role sits at the intersection of trading, research, and client-facing investment work, and is a strong fit for a CFA charterholder — or a candidate actively progressing through the CFA Program — who wants real ownership over both the operational and advisory sides of investment management, and who is excited about using data and AI to make investment work faster and more consistent. We are open to candidates based in or near Westchester, IL.
- What You'll Do
- Trading and cash management. Execute all client trades and monitor cash positions daily, managing money in and out of accounts, raising cash to cover billing, and keeping portfolios aligned to target through tax-aware rebalancing, drift monitoring, model changes, tax-loss harvesting, and capital gains monitoring.
- Investment research and portfolio construction. Research ETFs, mutual funds, individual stocks, alternatives, fixed income, private investments, structured products, OCIO solutions, and model portfolios, and turn that research into data-backed recommendations. Design and tailor portfolios for entrepreneurs, retirees, business owners, executives, trusts, foundations, and corporate cash reserves.
- Investment committee. Own Investment Policy Statements, model portfolios, asset allocation, due diligence, and investment memos, and drive quarterly investment recommendations and committee meeting preparation.
- Client support and corporate investments. Partner with advisors by preparing investment reviews, portfolio and performance analysis, risk analysis, and client-facing presentations, attending client meetings when appropriate. Manage corporate investment accounts, cash and treasury strategies, and short-term reserve management — work that becomes increasingly valuable as the firm adds business-owner clients.
- Investment operations and technology. Own trading compliance, best execution, cash management, settlement monitoring, billing cash, corporate actions, and performance reconciliation, with a focus on preventing trading errors. Use AI to speed up research, portfolio analytics, rebalancing decisions, market summaries, due diligence, and client reporting — this is an area where McCulley Financial aims to differentiate, with the goal of eventually building AI workflows that turn hours of manual analysis into minutes.
- What Success Looks Like
- Day to day, success means zero trading errors, full cash availability, same-day trade execution, and no failed settlements. That discipline rolls up into weekly portfolio and research reviews, monthly billing funding and investment committee preparation, and quarterly model and strategy reviews. Within the first year, this person should take full ownership of trading, cash management, billing funding, and portfolio rebalancing; build out the firm's investment research library; standardize Investment Policy Statements; lead investment committee preparation; and meaningfully reduce the manual workload on advisors through operational excellence.
- Who You Are
- You hold a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or investments, and are a CFA charterholder or actively pursuing the CFA designation (CFP is a plus). A Series 65/66, or willingness to obtain one, is expected. Prior RIA experience across portfolio management, trading, asset allocation, investment research, and tax-aware investing is preferred, along with familiarity with platforms such as Schwab, Orion, Tamarac, or Black Diamond. We're looking for someone analytical, curious, and calm under pressure — a detail-oriented systems thinker who is data-driven, low-ego, and high-ownership, and who genuinely enjoys solving investment problems more than selling them.
- Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $90,000–$120,000, commensurate with experience, CFA progress/completion, and location, plus performance-based bonus eligibility. Final offer will be based on the candidate's experience, credentials, and geographic location.
- Benefits include medical/dental coverage, 401(k) with firm match, paid time off, and support for CFA exam fees and study materials.
- Location
- This role is based out of McCulley Financial's Westchester, IL office.
- Pay Transparency Note
- This range reflects the anticipated base pay for this role in good faith, consistent with Illinois pay transparency requirements for positions performed in or reporting to Illinois. Actual pay will depend on the selected candidate's experience, qualifications, and work location.
