Water and Wastewater Economic Analyst

About This Position

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department, one of the nation's largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.6 million customers. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix.

Duties

The Water Services Department (WSD) is seeking a Water and Wastewater Economic Analyst with experience in forecasting and economic analysis. The position is primarily responsible for performing the following duties:

• Maintains forecasting models that record past consumption, population data, weather data and forecast future consumption;
• Participates in multi-year water and wastewater rate revenue forecasting, comparisons, and analysis; Assists in performing special studies of the impact of urban growth and variations in weather and economic conditions on water consumption;
• Prepares information for financial disclosures;
• Provides comprehensive analysis of special projects and prepares reports as requested;
• Works with City of Phoenix staff in efforts to complete information requests and surveys;
• Participates in developing rates, taxes and fees.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Knowledge of forecasting and statistical methods.

SALARY

Pay Range/Hiring Range: $76,294.40 to $112,715.20 annually.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three years of professional level experience in economic or statistical analysis and research.
• Bachelor's degree in economics, statistical research analysis or a related field.
• Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Preferred Qualifications

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus academic or professional experience in the following:

• Gathering and organizing data such as economic indicators, climate, operational data, sales, etc.
• Economic, multivariant, and time series analysis methods used in forecasting.
• Identifying and interpreting economic and weather trends.
• Use of Excel and database software.
• Interpreting financial statements.
