About Us

Hancock Firm is a boutique business valuation and litigation support firm based in Houston, serving attorneys, business owners, and fiduciaries across Texas. We specialize in complex valuation matters spanning family law, estate and gift tax planning, and M&A transactions. Our team combines deep technical expertise with a hands on, client focused approach.

The Role

We're looking for a Valuation Analyst to join our team and build financial models that get used in courtrooms, in IRS filings, and in deal rooms. You'll be building the analytical foundation for expert opinions that hold up under cross examination and IRS scrutiny, working directly with credentialed valuation professionals on live engagements.

What You'll Work On

  • Building valuation models (capitalized cash flow, DCF, adjusted net asset value) for privately held businesses across a range of industries
  • Supporting divorce and family law matters, including valuing marital business interests, analyzing personal versus enterprise goodwill, and preparing schedules that withstand opposing expert challenges
  • Estate and gift tax valuations (Form 706/709) for closely held businesses, FLPs, and fractional interests
  • Discount analysis, including DLOM and DLOC support for minority and non marketable interests
  • Transaction related valuations supporting M&A, buy sell agreements, and ownership transitions
  • Researching industry, economic, and market data to support valuation conclusions
  • Drafting narrative sections of valuation reports and assisting in report production
  • Collaborating directly with senior valuation professionals and occasionally supporting expert witness case preparation

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
  • Strong Excel modeling skills and comfort working with financial statements
  • Sharp analytical instincts and genuine curiosity about how businesses generate value
  • Excellent writing skills; you'll help draft reports that get read by attorneys, judges, and the IRS
  • Interest in eventually pursuing a valuation credential is a plus

Why Hancock Firm

You'll get exposure to the full range of valuation work, spanning litigation, tax, and transactions, far faster than you would at a larger shop. You'll receive direct mentorship from credentialed senior professionals, real client and case exposure early on, and a seat at the table on some genuinely interesting, high stakes engagements.
