  • Job Summary
  • This is a contract Technical Analyst IV role at a major financial institution, supporting a team of 15 in a BAU (business-as-usual) capacity. The position is a maternity leave replacement and offers significant exposure across multiple lines of business — including interactions with management and stakeholders across the organization. The successful candidate will be comfortable navigating difficult conversations with stakeholders and will serve as a subject matter expert providing technical guidance, complex troubleshooting, and problem resolution within the Data Protection environment. A 1–2 week onboarding training period is included.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Identify applications in scope; extract information from pre-populated business requirement documents and analyze to ensure data is accurate
  • Communicate and liaise with the application contact person
  • Onboard clients to the backup platforms
  • Ensure backups follow immutability requirements; monitor and create reports on them
  • Clean up any backups that are no longer required and ensure capacity is being managed
  • Create, maintain, and update runbooks/dashboards/scorecards related to immutability
  • Deploy corresponding infrastructure as needed
  • Assist team in other day-to-day activities
  • Demonstrate commitment to staying abreast of industry and business trends
  • Apply strength in researching industry standards, best practices, and new innovations in technology, and make informed recommendations
  • Serve as a technology, trends, and processes "go-to" resource
  • Work independently in a senior or lead role on a diverse range of tasks; may be relied upon to coach and educate others
  • Function as a subject matter expert and consultant who provides technical guidance and highly complex troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Support highly complex and comprehensive applications, systems, and business lines
  • Identify root causes and implement targeted and controlled remediation plans
  • Work with stakeholders to install, configure, upgrade, and administer business applications and systems
  • Review, participate in, and implement procedures
  • Required Skills
  • 5 years' experience working with Data Domain, NetBackup, Commvault, TSM/Spectrum Protect
  • 5 years' analyzing business requirements documents and translating them to technical specifications
  • 5 years' experience working in a Data Protection environment for major corporations (Financial Services Industry experience is a plus)
  • 5 years' experience in Data Domain infrastructure
  • 5 years' experience in capacity management (creating reports/dashboards, etc.); ability to understand capacity — licensing and storage — and performance using metrics from the tools and create forecasts; good data analytics skills to correlate metrics
  • 3–4 years' experience with automation and scripting for operational efficiency (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, or similar)
  • Negotiating and analytical skills; experience previously dealing with difficult stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills — written and verbal

  • Microsoft Excel — pivot tables, etc.
  • Education Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree, or any relevant technical certificates are helpful
  • Required Experience
  • 8 years of overall experience
  • Banking experience within auditing and backups preferred
  • Background in Data Domain, Commvault, and TSM/Spectrum Protect, with emphasis on Commvault and backup over TSM
  • Work Environment / Physical Requirements
  • Approximately 20–30% of the day spent in meetings
  • Interactions with both internal and external stakeholders
  • No access to customer data
