Primary Services is actively recruiting for a Tax Analyst to support a prestigious client in the regulated natural gas utility industry. This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to the tax accounting and compliance functions of a large, expanding organization with operations across multiple jurisdictions. The Tax Analyst will play a key role in preparing tax reporting, supporting compliance activities, assisting with audits, and maintaining accurate financial records while collaborating with accounting and finance professionals across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare tax accruals and maintain supporting workpapers.
  • Prepare and file state and local tax returns, including sales and use tax filings.
  • Support property tax reporting and compliance activities.
  • Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts and assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Assist with tax audits by preparing documentation and responding to information requests.
  • Monitor filing deadlines and maintain compliance records.
  • Support the development and enhancement of tax processes and internal controls.
  • Research applicable tax regulations and assist with compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintain accurate tax documentation and support reporting requirements.
  • Perform additional tax accounting responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3+ years of accounting, tax, or related professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and account reconciliations.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of state and local tax compliance processes.
  • Experience preparing tax accruals and supporting tax filings.
  • Utility or regulated industry experience preferred.
  • Exposure to state and local tax (SALT) requirements preferred.
  • CPA certification or active progress toward CPA certification preferred.
