Staff Data Platform Engineer

2. About the Opportunity:

The Staff Data Platform Engineer role focuses on enhancing data infrastructure and operational efficiency across engineering teams. The position is responsible for improving provisioning, security, monitoring, and management of production data systems. This role ensures scalable, reliable, and maintainable data solutions that support partner organizations'' evolving needs, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the organization’s technology platform.

3. Responsibilities:

• Develop reusable infrastructure as code for managing database resources
• Automate secure provisioning of database users
• Integrate operational monitoring with application and data flow monitoring
• Optimize database performance and runtimes
• Design and test database backup and recovery schemes aligned with disaster recovery objectives
• Advise on appropriate data store selection for applications
• Evaluate and refine the database ecosystem and tooling
• Assist teams with data schema modeling and review data access patterns
• Build opinionated, easy-to-use database infrastructure in the cloud
• Enhance code bases focusing on secure coding, vulnerability identification, and data privacy
• Reduce technical debt and improve system quality
• Establish best practices for data schemas, sharing, and access
• Mentor senior engineers and emerging technical leads
• Lead technical discussions and decisions across teams

4. Requirements:

• Extensive experience designing, deploying, optimizing, and maintaining cloud databases
• Strong expertise in database administration and infrastructure as code
• Ability to implement secure database provisioning and operational monitoring
• Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution
• Skilled in evaluating data stores and tools suitable for varied application needs
• Proven ability to mentor and lead technical teams
• Capable of working effectively in dynamic, shifting product priority environments

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
