Staff Data Platform Engineer

We're seeking a Staff, Senior Staff, or Principal Data Platform Engineer to design, build, and scale the next generation of a data platform for a rapidly growing health-tech company focused on improving healthcare operations through software and automation.

This is a highly hands-on role for an experienced engineer who enjoys building software, developing scalable data services, and solving complex platform challenges. You'll play a key role in designing and developing the company's next-generation data platform, helping create the systems and services that support future products, business growth, and data-driven innovation.

• Responsibilities
• Design, build, and scale the company's next-generation data platform and software services.
• Architect scalable data models, schemas, APIs, and backend systems.
• Develop high-performance applications and platform capabilities using Python, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
• Establish best practices for data quality, governance, observability, reliability, and performance.
• Partner with engineering and product leaders to define platform strategy and technical direction.
• Support platform growth as customer adoption, data volume, and product complexity increase.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering excellence across the organization.
• Requirements
• 12+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend systems, data platforms, or distributed applications.
• Strong hands-on software development experience with Python.
• Deep expertise in data modeling, schema design, SQL, relational databases, and performance optimization.
• Proven experience building platforms from scratch (0→1) and scaling them through significant growth (1→2 and beyond).
• Experience working in both startup environments and mid-to-large-scale organizations.
• Strong experience building cloud-based applications and scalable distributed systems.
• Experience supporting production environments, including monitoring, observability, reliability, and incident response.
• Strong architectural and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions in evolving environments.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience within SaaS, fintech, healthcare, enterprise software, or other complex data-driven environments.
• Experience supporting analytics, automation, AI, machine learning, or data-intensive products.
• Background in high-growth startup or venture-backed companies.
• Experience leading technical initiatives while remaining hands-on with development.
