Staff Accountant- Data Analyst

A great UHY client is seeking a Staff Accountant – Data Analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting and analytical skills, experience with financial reporting and month-end close, and advanced Excel capabilities.

The Staff Accountant – Data Analysis role is a remote position with occasional travel needed to the office. This is a direct hire position.

• Staff Accountant – Data Analysis Responsibilities
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare accurate and timely journal entries to the general ledger.
• Support the month-end close process in a deadline-driven environment.
• Assist with monthly account reconciliations and general ledger analysis.
• Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities for assigned areas.
• Investigate account variances and prepare supporting analysis and explanations.
• Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies and procedures.
• Perform accounting research and assist with technical accounting matters as needed.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and support initiatives to enhance reporting efficiency.
• Collaborate with accounting, finance, and business partners to support financial reporting and analysis.
• Maintain confidentiality while adhering to company safety, security, and privacy standards.

• Staff Accountant – Data Analysis Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of accounting, finance, audit, and/or data analytics experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP.
• Experience supporting general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial data analysis.
• Experience with Workday Financial or Adaptive Planning is highly preferred.
• Experience with Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
• CPA designation is a plus; candidates actively pursuing their CPA will also be considered.
• Prior public accounting experience is beneficial but not required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Service-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
