- ### Position Overview
- Seeking an enterprise-grade Lead SQL Server Analytics Consultant with 8+ years of database engineering experience and specialized domain expertise in Reinsurance and Actuarial operations. This 100% on-site role in Farmington, CT involves attaching a 15-minute screen recording submission with candidate profiles. The engineer will design, optimize, and maintain complex SQL Server database architectures, T-SQL analytical stored procedures, dynamic Excel Macros (VBA), and data transformation pipelines supporting actuarial modeling, underwriting analytics, reinsurance policy administration, and premium/claims financial reconciliation.
- ### Key Responsibilities
- * Reinsurance & Actuarial Analytics: Collaborate directly with actuaries, underwriters, and reinsurance operations teams to design, model, and automate data analytics workflows supporting risk valuation, treaty calculations, and loss reserving.
- * SQL Server Database Engineering: Write, refactor, and maintain high-performance T-SQL queries, complex views, CTEs, window functions, analytics functions, and stored procedures on Microsoft SQL Server.
- * Performance Tuning & Optimization: Analyze query execution plans, design optimal indexes, optimize tempdb usage, and resolve deadlock bottlenecks across high-volume financial data warehouses.
- * Excel Macro (VBA) Automation: Build, maintain, and upgrade automated Excel Macro (VBA) templates integrated with SQL Server backends for dynamic actuarial reporting and financial risk calculations.
- * ETL & Data Pipeline Delivery: Develop and maintain automated data integration workflows (SSIS / T-SQL scripts) bringing heterogeneous insurance, policy, and claims data into analytics data marts.
- * Data Quality & Reconciliation: Establish rigorous data validation checks and automated audit reconciliations to ensure high precision in actuarial reporting and regulatory filings.
- ### Required Skillset
- * Domain Mastery (Mandatory): Hands-on functional exposure to Reinsurance process operations (ceded/assumed reinsurance, treaty management) and Actuarial workflows (risk modeling, loss reserves, premium calculations).
- * Experience: 8+ years of dedicated professional Database Administration / SQL Server Development experience in insurance or financial services.
- * SQL Server & T-SQL Analytics: Advanced mastery in SQL Server, T-SQL scripting, complex joins, subqueries, stored procedure development, and analytical window functions.
- * Excel Macro (VBA) Engineering: Deep technical experience building and debugging automated Excel Macros connected to SQL database backends.
- * Performance Tuning: Proven track record analyzing SQL Server execution plans, index tuning, and database optimization.
