Job Title: Software Developer - Data Platform & Security (REMOTE)

Duration: 6 - 12 Months Contract

Location: 100% REMOTE

Pay Range- $45-$55/hr

Job Description:

• We are seeking a Software Developer to join a small, high-visibility team dedicated to two concurrent workstreams: a reporting platform migration and the establishment of a security remediation practice.
• This is a hands-on engineering role focused on overall system health, stability, and platform hygiene rather than new feature development. You will focus on keeping packages and platforms up to date, closing out technical debt, and translating CVEs and security findings into functional code fixes as directed by the internal security team.
• You will operate within a core team of three—comprising a Technical Program Manager, a DevOps Engineer, and this role—who collectively own a shared system health backlog.
• Key Responsibilities
• 1. Platform Migration Engineering

Data Pipeline Execution: Build, test, and validate data pipelines to confirm parity between legacy systems and the target data platform prior to cutover.

Backlog Execution: Work sequentially from a prioritized backlog, executing user stories and epics scoped by the Technical Program Manager.

Quality & Testing: Partner with quality engineers and the DevOps Engineer on cross-migration testing, executing direct test cases as needed.

Risk Management: Proactively identify and flag risks, technical blockers, or schedule concerns to leadership.

2. Security Remediation Engineering

Code Remediation: Implement application-level security measures across applications as directed by internal security teams.

CVE Resolution: Turn CVE findings and security vulnerabilities into well-tested, production-ready code changes.

Testing & Validation: Conduct regression testing specific to security patches and assist with broader validation efforts as capacity requires.

Status Delivery: Communicate remediation progress, blockers, and dependencies through regular team cadences.

3. System Health & Technical Debt

Dependency Upgrades: Keep application packages, software libraries, frameworks, and platform components up to date across services.

Technical Debt Reduction: Identify, prioritize, and remediate technical debt across the codebase.

Agile Execution: Participate actively in Agile Scrum ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives).

Jira Management: Maintain up-to-date story statuses, comments, and acceptance criteria in Jira to ensure accurate delivery planning.

• Qualifications & Skill
• Required Qualifications

Experience: 3-6 years of professional software engineering experience.

Full-Stack Proficiency: Proven experience handling both frontend and backend development tasks.

Backend Technologies: Practical experience with Node.js, Java, or similar backend programming languages.

Frontend Technologies: Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React).

Dependency & Framework Management: Experience upgrading dependencies, third-party libraries, and core frameworks across live codebases.

Security Remediation: Experience addressing security vulnerabilities, implementing remediation code, or responding to internal audit findings.

AWS & Serverless: Familiarity with core AWS services, particularly serverless backend management and databases (RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Lambda, S3).

Databases: Practical familiarity with SQL databases.

Agile Delivery: Proficiency working from a prioritized Jira backlog and tracking tasks in an Agile environment.

Communication: Excellent interpersonal skill with a strong ability to collaborate closely with a Technical Program Manager and DevOps Engineer.

Nice to Have

Familiarity with reporting or data platform migrations (e.g., Snowflake, Splunk, Sigma, or similar tools).

Exposure to security vulnerability management practices (e.g., CVE triage) or working directly with enterprise security groups.

Experience with application and infrastructure monitoring platforms such as Datadog or AWS CloudWatch.

Practical experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline.

Background working on cross-functional Agile Scrum teams.
