Senior Software Engineer – Data Platforms & Streaming (Merchandise Technology)

The Panther Group is seeking a W2 Contract with potential to go full time, 100% Remote, Senior Software Engineer – Data Platforms & Streaming (Merchandise Technology) to support the design, development, and modernization of scalable data and integration platforms within a fast-paced enterprise technology environment. This role focuses on distributed data processing, real-time streaming, API development, and modernization of legacy integration systems.

• Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop scalable data pipelines using Scala and Apache Spark.
• Build and support real-time streaming solutions using Kafka.
• Develop backend services and APIs using Java (Spring Boot) and NodeJS.
• Contribute to frontend integrations using Angular and JavaScript.
• Support migration from legacy integration and ETL platforms to modern architectures.
• Implement RESTful APIs and event-driven integration patterns.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, performance tuning, and production support.
• Assist with technical design discussions and mentor junior team members.

• Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of software engineering and data platform experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• Scala and Apache Spark
• Apache Kafka
• SQL and relational databases
• DB2
• Java (Spring Boot)
• NodeJS
• JavaScript and Angular
• Experience with microservices, REST APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern integration frameworks.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with data platform modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of event-driven architecture and high-volume data processing systems.
• Familiarity with enterprise integration or ETL tools.
• Experience working in large-scale Agile development environments.

Pay $55 - $63 / hour depending on experience
