Senior Power BI/Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer

• JustinBradley’s client, a payment processing company, is seeking an experienced Senior Power BI / Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer for a 2-month project to support the implementation and continued development of their Microsoft Fabric and Power BI reporting environment.
• This role will focus on designing and implementing scalable data models, semantic models, notebook-based data transformations, and Power BI reporting solutions. The ideal candidate will be comfortable assessing existing datasets and data structures, developing advanced DAX calculations, and contributing across data modeling, reporting, and analytics solution delivery.

Hybrid to O’Fallon, MO.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable dimensional and semantic models within Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
• Structure complex datasets using fact and dimension modeling, including star and snowflake schemas.
• Assess existing data structures and recommend improvements for scalability, performance, and usability.
• Design complex dimensions and optimize model relationships.
• Improve semantic model and reporting performance.
• Build and maintain Microsoft Fabric solutions, including dataflows, pipelines, lakehouses, warehouses, and semantic models.
• Develop notebooks using Python and SQL for data preparation, transformation, and processing.
• Integrate data from multiple source systems and prepare datasets for reporting and analytics.
• Support data engineering activities required for Power BI reporting and analytics initiatives.
• Troubleshoot data integration and transformation issues across the reporting environment.
• Develop advanced DAX measures and calculations to support complex business and analytical requirements.
• Optimize DAX and Power BI solutions for performance and scalability.
• Build, enhance, and maintain executive and operational dashboards in Power BI.
• Troubleshoot complex reporting and analytical requirements.
• Support Power BI Report Builder and paginated reporting solutions as needed.
• Implement and maintain row-level security (RLS) and security group-based access controls.
• Support report distribution, user access, and data extraction requirements.
• Assist with establishing scalable reporting access and security models within Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Power BI development experience.
• Advanced DAX expertise with experience solving complex reporting and business requirements.
• Strong dimensional and semantic modeling experience, including: Star schema design, Snowflake schema design, Fact and dimension modeling, Complex dimensions, Semantic model design, Performance optimization
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric implementation and development.
• Experience developing notebooks using Python and SQL.
• Experience designing and delivering enterprise reporting and analytics solutions.
• Strong understanding of data integration and transformation patterns.
• Experience working with complex, highly related datasets and data structures.
• Ability to quickly understand an existing data environment and contribute with minimal ramp-up time.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience migrating existing reporting assets and solutions to Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with Databricks.
• Experience with Power BI Report Builder and Paginated Reports.
• Experience implementing row-level security and security group-based access controls.
• Experience working within Power BI Report Server environments.
