Senior Analyst | Long-Biased Equity Investing:

  • A Boston-based, multi-billion dollar investment manager is seeking to add a Senior Analyst to its investment team. The firm employs a concentrated, long-term investment approach focused on identifying high-conviction opportunities where deep fundamental research and differentiated insights can drive outsized returns.
  • The team invests primarily across areas such as Industrials, Transportation, Business Services, Infrastructure, Energy, and other cyclical sectors, with a particular interest in businesses benefiting from secular growth, operational improvement, market share gains, or underappreciated earnings power. Investments are supported by rigorous bottom-up research, extensive primary diligence, and a long-duration investment horizon.
  • This is a unique opportunity to work within a lean team where research has a direct impact on portfolio construction and investment decisions. The successful candidate will be expected to operate as a true investor, independently sourcing and developing differentiated ideas while helping drive the firm's overall research agenda.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate high-conviction long investment ideas through deep fundamental analysis and independent research.
  • Develop differentiated investment theses supported by proprietary diligence, primary research, channel checks, expert interviews, and alternative data sources.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation frameworks, and industry analyses.
  • Conduct extensive company, industry, and competitive landscape research across sectors including Industrials, Transportation, Business Services, Infrastructure, and Energy.
  • Present investment recommendations and actively participate in portfolio discussions.
  • Monitor portfolio holdings and continuously reassess risk/reward dynamics.
  • Identify opportunities where market expectations diverge meaningfully from fundamental reality.

Qualifications:

  • 6-12 years of investing or equity research experience from a hedge fund, long-only asset manager, or leading sell-side research platform.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently generate actionable investment ideas.
  • Strong history of conducting primary research that creates a genuine informational edge.
  • Proven capability to uncover asymmetric opportunities supported by variant perception rather than consensus thinking.
  • Excellent financial modeling, accounting, and valuation skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence investment decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-accountability, entrepreneurial environment and contribute immediately.

Ideal Background:

  • The ideal candidate is a fundamentally driven investor who enjoys digging beneath the surface to uncover mispriced opportunities. Successful applicants will have a track record of developing differentiated views through extensive research and proprietary work, rather than relying on management narratives, consensus estimates, or multiple expansion to support an investment case.
  • This role is best suited for someone looking to operate as a true investor within a concentrated portfolio, where original thinking, intellectual curiosity, and independent judgment are highly valued.
  • Location: Boston, MA
  • Title: Senior Analyst
  • Experience: 6-12 Years
  • Strategy: Long-Biased Public Equities
  • Compensation: Highly Competitive Base Salary, Bonus, and Long-Term Incentive Potential
