Senior FS Data Engineer

The Planet Group has partnered with a Dallas area company to locate a Sr. Databricks Engineer to join a team building modern, cloud-based data solutions that support advanced analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives.

This is a highly hands-on engineering role focused on designing and optimizing scalable data pipelines, improving database performance, and delivering reliable data solutions within an Azure environment.

Candidates must have excellent communication sklls, be local to Dallas, and be willing to be onsite for three days a week.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks, PySpark, Python, and SQL.
• Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes that integrate data from multiple enterprise systems.
• Develop high-performance SQL solutions, including complex queries, stored procedures, and database optimization.
• Improve data quality, reliability, and scalability through performance tuning and best practices.
• Support cloud-based data platforms within Microsoft Azure.
• Design and maintain relational and dimensional data models for analytics and reporting.
• Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, BI, and application development teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
• Participate in Agile development, code reviews, and technical design discussions.
• Required Skills and Experience:
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, database development, or related roles.
• Strong experience with Databricks, Apache Spark/PySpark, Python, and SQL.
• Expertise developing and optimizing SQL Server or Azure SQL solutions.
• Experience designing and supporting ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling.
• Experience working within Microsoft Azure environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs.
• Experience with .NET, C#, Angular, or AI/ML technologies is a plus but not required
