Role Description The Senior Financial Analyst will provide part-time, remote support in managing CIMR’s financial planning, reporting, and analysis activities. This role includes developing and maintaining financial forecasts and budgets, monitoring expenditures related to journal operations and projects, and preparing regular financial reports for the editorial board and MIM leadership. The Senior Financial Analyst will analyze financial statements to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and will recommend strategies to optimize resource allocation and ensure financial sustainability. Day-to-day tasks also involve collaborating with administrative and editorial staff to align financial plans with publication schedules, tracking funding and grants, and supporting compliance with institutional and regulatory financial requirements.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Finance, with demonstrated experience in Financial Planning for projects or organizations.
Advanced Analytical Skills applied to budget development, variance analysis, and financial decision support.
Proficiency in working with Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, including preparing clear reports for non-financial stakeholders.
Experience in academic, non-profit, or research environments is highly beneficial.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage part-time hours effectively, and meet deadlines across time zones.
High level of numeracy and attention to detail, with strong written communication skills in English.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Familiarity with grant management, project accounting, or public-sector financial frameworks is an asset.
