This position does not offer employment visa sponsorship. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
- 2. The Opportunity
- ABG is creating dedicated ownership for retail finance and reporting. Today, reporting is distributed across multiple contributors, existing outputs require substantial improvement, and the Power BI environment is still being established.
- This role will bring the work together under one finance professional who can deliver the current Excel-based reporting cadence while rebuilding the underlying capability. The scope reaches beyond reporting into sales forecasting, projections, pricing, margin analysis, variance interpretation, and profit-and-loss insight.
- The opportunity is suited to someone who wants to build structure—not simply inherit a finished reporting environment.
- 3. Success in Year One
- Establish dedicated finance ownership for reporting and analysis across ABG’s two retail segments: large-box retailers and secondary/smaller retailers.
- Assess and substantially rebuild the existing retail reporting portfolio.
- Create a recurring forecasting and projection process with the retail sales teams.
- Deliver pricing, margin, variance, and profit-and-loss analysis that improves decision visibility.
- Build reporting structures capable of incorporating additional ABG divisions.
- Maintain dependable Excel-based delivery while identifying the right path toward Power BI reporting.
- Establish clear reporting controls, ownership, cadence, and stakeholder expectations.
- 4. The Mandate
- Build and own a finance-led retail reporting and analysis capability that delivers accurate, timely reporting, sales forecasts, pricing and margin analysis, and scalable reporting infrastructure across ABG’s large and secondary retail channels.
- The analyst will be accountable for connecting retail sales activity to financial implications. That means understanding the business question behind a report, testing assumptions, identifying the financial drivers, and helping stakeholders act on the analysis.
- 5. Year One Critical Outcomes
- Outcome
- What the role must establish
- Dedicated ownership
- One accountable finance owner for retail reporting and analysis across both retail segments.
- Reporting rebuild
- A more complete, useful, and controlled portfolio of recurring retail finance reports.
- Forecasting discipline
- A recurring process for forecasts and projections developed with sales stakeholders.
- Commercial finance insight
- Pricing, margin, variance, and profit-and-loss analysis used to support decisions.
- Divisional scalability
- A reporting structure that can incorporate additional divisions and data sources.
- Technology evolution
- Continued Excel delivery combined with disciplined preparation for Power BI adoption.
- Execution controls
- Defined ownership, deadlines, validation controls, and escalation practices for recurring outputs.
- Specific report volumes, forecast-accuracy thresholds, implementation dates, and financial-impact targets will be finalized as the reporting baseline and stakeholder requirements are confirmed.
- 6. Why This Role Is Hard
- The analyst must improve the reporting capability while continuing to meet current finance deadlines.
- Ownership is presently fragmented, so success requires knowledge transfer and alignment across pricing, sales, retail users, and participating divisions.
- The Power BI environment is developing; the role cannot postpone value until future technology is fully available.
- Reporting requirements and data inputs will not always be fully defined at the outset.
- The analyst must balance speed with accuracy and explain the financial implications—not simply distribute reports.
- Success requires influencing stakeholders and challenging unsupported assumptions without formal authority.
- 7. Leadership Profile
- This is a Builder role expressed through individual-contributor leadership. The successful person will:
- Create structure from incomplete inputs. Clarify definitions, ownership, data needs, controls, and reporting standards.
- Build while delivering. Maintain the current reporting cadence while designing a better operating model.
- Own the finance question. Move from report production into forecasting, pricing, margin, variance, and profit-and-loss interpretation.
- Operate with control. Use validation practices that protect accuracy and reduce avoidable rework.
- Influence across functions. Establish effective working relationships with sales, pricing, retail users, and divisions.
- Design for scale. Create reporting that can support additional users, divisions, and data sources over time.
- 8. Experience Requirements
- Required Experience
- Financial analysis must be a primary part of the candidate’s current or most recent role.
- Direct experience with several of the following: sales forecasting, financial projections, pricing analysis, margin analysis, profit-and-loss analysis, and variance interpretation.
- Evidence of personally improving, redesigning, or establishing financial reports or reporting processes.
- Experience producing recurring, deadline-driven financial deliverables with clear validation controls.
- Direct partnership with sales, commercial, pricing, or operating stakeholders.
- Strong Excel capability and prior hands-on use of Power BI.
- Preferred Experience
- Manufacturing finance experience.
- Retail, reseller-channel, or customer-facing commercial finance experience.
- Pricing experience or support of large retail accounts.
- Experience integrating divisions or business units into common reporting.
- Approximately three to seven years of relevant experience.
- Finance-related academic background.
- SQL is not required.
- 9. Why the Right Candidate Will Be Excited
- The role offers visible ownership of a finance capability rather than a narrow reporting assignment.
- The selected analyst will shape how retail performance is forecasted, analyzed, and communicated.
- There is meaningful room to improve reporting instead of merely maintaining a finished system.
- The work connects finance directly with commercial decisions across two retail segments.
- The analyst will help determine how reporting evolves from Excel toward Power BI.
- The role provides exposure to multiple stakeholders and future divisional integration.
- 10. Why This Role Matters
- Retail decisions require dependable forecasts, clear pricing and margin visibility, and reporting that leaders can use. This role gives ABG one accountable finance owner for connecting those needs.
- The person in this position will help establish the financial discipline and reporting infrastructure required to support better commercial decisions, incorporate additional divisions, and scale retail reporting as the business evolves.
- This is an opportunity to build the finance and reporting capability—not simply maintain it.
