Senior Data Scientist

Overall Assignment Description:

The candidate will support Core Mission Operations by developing, sustaining, and improving operational data pipelines and data-driven solutions. Requires experience with databases, cloud architectures, APIs, programming languages, and operational data environments. Must be able to work independently, collaborate with technical and mission stakeholders, and clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Duties:

• Develop, sustain, and improve operational data pipelines supporting mission and enterprise data needs.
• Query systems, migrate data, and support integration across multiple data formats and interfaces.
• Use programming, scripting, APIs, and database technologies to support data pipeline development and system integration.
• Support data management, data conditioning, data analytics, visualization, and operational monitoring activities.
• Collaborate with Government, contractor, technical, and mission stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical data solutions.
• Support process improvement, standards implementation, and tool adoption in operational data environments.

Required Skills and Demonstrated Experience:

• Master’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience; OR bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience; OR associate degree and 8+ years of relevant experience; OR 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Relevant experience should include data science, data engineering, database development, cloud architecture, operational data pipelines, system integration, or similar technical data-focused work.
• 4+ years of experience working with SQL or NoSQL databases and cloud architectures.
• Experience leveraging APIs to query systems and migrate data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate challenging technical concepts to both lay and expert audiences.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
• Experience developing and sustaining operational data pipelines supporting multiple data formats and interfaces.

Desired Skills and Demonstrated Experience:

• Experience working with NGA IT enterprise solutions, such as NGA CORE or NGA MLOps, Government Authority to Operate processes, and Government Non-Person Entity certificates.
• Experience implementing processes, standards, and tools within an organization based on the Scaled Agile Framework for Enterprise.
• Experience developing dynamic visualizations to monitor availability, currency, and volumetrics of operational data pipelines.
