Senior Data Engineer

• Senior Data Engineer (Developer DBA)
• Our client is seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Developer DBA to join their technology team. This is an 80% database development and 20% data engineering role, ideal for a hands-on technical professional with strong Oracle, SQL/PLSQL, data modeling, and database performance experience.

You’ll act as a Database SME across multiple projects, contributing to solution design, development, optimization, and full implementation in a fast-paced environment.

• Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop logical/physical data models and database schemas.
• Develop and optimize SQL/PLSQL, packages, procedures, and database objects.
• Troubleshoot and improve database performance, scalability, and efficiency.
• Support ELT processes and data pipelines using tools such as Talend, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Develop database automation and scripting using Bash.
• Support cloud and database modernization initiatives across private cloud, Azure, and Oracle OCI.
• Research and resolve complex database issues and recommend technical solutions.
• Manage multiple projects and priorities while delivering high-quality solutions.

• Required Qualifications
• 8–12 years of experience in database development, Developer DBA, or data engineering roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with Oracle 19c/23ai and Exadata Cloud at Customer (ExaCC).
• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL development experience.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, schema design, normalization, and relational databases.
• Proven database performance tuning and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with Bash or similar scripting languages.
• Experience developing ELT processes and data pipelines.
• Experience with Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, and/or Talend.
• Understanding of cloud technologies, particularly Azure and/or Oracle OCI.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a high-pressure environment.

• Nice to Have
• FinTech or financial services experience.
• Automated database deployment / database DevOps experience.
• Experience with Oracle Cloud migration or modernization initiatives.
