Senior Data Engineer

• Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite)

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join a high-visibility Enterprise Data Lake initiative, working within agile scrum teams to build scalable Hadoop and AWS Big Data solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• • Develop functional & technical solutions for enterprise data platforms
• • Build analytics applications using AWS Big Data technologies
• • Work with Kafka, PySpark, Spark, Hadoop, Shell Scripting & SQL
• • Develop real-time data streaming solutions
• • Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and solution discussions
• • Create reusable and scalable code components
• • Collaborate with engineers, business analysts, and technical stakeholders
• • Mentor team members and contribute to a fast-paced Agile environment

Must-Have Skills:

• • 9+ years of overall experience with a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative/technical field
• • 5+ years of Big Data development experience
• • Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, SQL & Git
• • Strong Shell scripting and complex SQL skills
• • Experience with real-time data streaming systems
• • Programming experience in at least 2 of: Python, Java, Scala
• • Experience developing reusable, abstracted code components
• • Strong performance tuning and troubleshooting skills

• • Strong business acumen and critical-thinking skills
• • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• • Ability to quickly learn new technologies
• • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
