Role Description The Senior Data Engineer at AFG Assurances Côte d'Ivoire will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support analytics and business intelligence needs. This part-time remote role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, integrating data from multiple internal and external sources, and ensuring data quality, reliability, and security. The Senior Data Engineer will optimize data workflows, improve performance of existing data systems, and document data architectures and processes. The role also includes supporting data analysts and stakeholders with accessible datasets, troubleshooting data issues, and contributing to the overall data strategy and best practices.
Qualifications
Strong data engineering skills, including designing and maintaining robust data pipelines and data infrastructure.
Proficiency in data modeling and data warehousing, with experience structuring data for analytics and reporting.
Hands-on experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes and tools to move and transform data between systems.
Ability to perform data analytics, interpret results, and collaborate with stakeholders to translate insights into actions.
Experience with SQL and at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, Java, or Scala).
Familiarity with cloud data platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data stack tools.
Understanding of data governance, security, and privacy practices, especially within financial or insurance contexts.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote, part-time environment.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
