  • Job Overview
  • We are seeking an experienced BI Developer to join our team in Long Island City, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience developing Business Intelligence solutions, dashboards, KPIs, and reports using industry-leading BI platforms such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • The BI Developer will work closely with business users, analysts, product managers, and technical teams to understand business requirements, analyze data, develop effective BI solutions, and deliver meaningful insights through data visualization and reporting.
  • The successful candidate should have a solid understanding of relational databases, Microsoft SQL Server, data warehousing, reporting, and data quality, along with excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills. Experience within the banking or financial services industry is highly preferred.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive BI dashboards, reports, and KPIs using Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Transform complex data into meaningful visualizations and clearly communicate insights through effective data storytelling.
  • Work closely with business analysts, product managers, stakeholders, and business users to gather and document reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, modify, enhance, and maintain existing dashboards, reports, and BI assets.
  • Validate the accuracy and integrity of data presented in dashboards, reports, extracts, and data warehouses.
  • Identify and resolve data quality, dashboard performance, and database performance issues.
  • Analyze business requirements and evaluate appropriate technical solutions.
  • Design, propose, and obtain approval for BI solution architecture, development, and implementation approaches.
  • Work across multiple environments, including development, testing/QA, and production.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate change-control, testing, and deployment processes for database and BI modifications.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure BI solutions meet organizational standards and business requirements.
  • Ensure dashboards and reporting solutions are scalable, reliable, user-friendly, and optimized for performance.
  • Follow organizational data protection, information security, network security, and antivirus policies.
  • Stay current with emerging BI, analytics, data visualization, and reporting technologies.
  • Participate in training, professional development programs, conferences, and seminars as required.
  • Support organizational initiatives and participate in Credit Union training and development programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and the organization's Code of Ethics & Business Conduct.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience developing BI dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of Business Intelligence, data visualization, and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience working with relational databases, particularly Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Strong SQL/T-SQL development and querying skills.
  • Experience working with data warehouses and reporting environments.
  • Experience validating data accuracy and troubleshooting data quality issues.
  • Experience working with multiple development, testing, and production environments.
  • Ability to gather requirements and translate business needs into effective BI solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the banking, financial services, credit union, or related industry.
  • Experience developing financial or operational dashboards and KPIs.
  • Experience with BI performance optimization.
  • Experience with data quality and data validation processes.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders and senior management.
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements.

  • This is a hybrid position based in Long Island City, NY. Candidates should be comfortable working collaboratively with business and technical teams in a hybrid environment.
